 Toyota Mirai! Can Hydrogen fuel be a gateway towards green Energy? 

 

 In this twenty-first century, the world is starting to gain green energy.  The world leaders came together to build a carbon-free world. We have Windmills, Solar parks, Hydroelectric  Dams. Nowadays we can see so many solar systems available in the market for homes. Still,  above 50%  of energy needs are fulfilled from coal energy. And We are approaching our goal slowly. But it is difficult to replace fossil fuels.  But we can see Norway has done a remarkable job in this field. The Electric vehicle has an 86% share inroads of Norway. But electric vehicles will not a convenient choice in big countries like the USA, China, and India.

    In India percentage of the electric vehicles are less than 1%.  In India brands like TATA, Hyundai, MG is investing a lot in the e-vehicle sector. It is a difficult task to provide charging infrastructure for 1.4 Billion people. For India car Companies need a different solution. And that is Hydrogen based fuel.

Toyota has launched the Mirai, the first hydrogen fuel cell EV (FCEV) car of  India in the presence of   Nitin Gadkari (Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India ). Mirai means “Future” in Japanese. The brand Mirai is developed in collaboration with International Center for Automotive Technology.

Toyota claims that Mirai can go 600 km on its full tank. Mirai works on electricity produced by the onboard Hydrogen based battery pack. So It does not require a long charging time. We can use this car for long trips. At present, the infrastructure of Hydrogen fuel is very less in India.

Adani group has  Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ballard Power, to invest jointly in the Hydrogen fuel sector. Indian industry  Reliance Industries plans to set up a Giga factory to produce green hydrogen fuel. L&T is working with HydrogenPro to develop an Electrolyzer making facility.

Toyota Kirloskar said,” Toyota is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050“.
