    Madhu’s Student life and friend(Part-2)

In a few days, our class was also started. And that boy in Orientation was Rajat. He was a local student. He was a rich boy. But I have never felt as. Because He was so simple. There was always a pen and a piece of paper. Always he was sitting in the last line. One another thing about him was that he was never writing any notes. In the meantime, I had seen Reena with him so many times.

I was experiencing a new world. And my roommate Reena did not know any manners. She had no idea about any cosmetics. She had no idea how to talk with a different age group of people and She was using slippers even in the classroom. Oh god. I was prepared, to change my room next year.

That day, I was late, so no seats were there in the first row in the class. But one seat was there near Reena. She smiled. Prakash sir was taking the class. Rajat was sitting in 2nd line. I and Reena were sitting on the other sides of that line, at the time of teaching. He was also listening to Prakash Sir. But He was not writing any notes. After some time Sir gave us some problems and asked us to solve the problems. We started to solve this I was just thinking that how can I solve the problems. I heard a voice.
It was Rajat’s voice. -“Solved Sir!”
-“All problem or one” Prakash sir said.
-“All” -“Show me,” Sir said to him.
After some time Reena said loudly. -“Finished.”

“Ok! You also show.”
Sir started checking the copies. After a few moments,
Sir said.
“Good! You both have used different methods for solving the problem but not according to the book .you have to use the books method only or I can’t give you marks because I have to follow the instruction at the time of checking the exam paper. I know it’s very great to solve in your way but I am sorry, I can’t give you marks in this way.”
Rajat said “So Sir! What is the use of new ideas?” “Keep it for the future.” Sir replied.

After that sir started checking other copies .in this conversion I had forgotten that I had to also solve the problem.
After that Reena and Rajat became good friends.  Reena introduced me to Rajat. They were good at their study. So many people were coming near to Rajat and Reena for clearing their doubts. Even they could manage a class if the teachers were not coming. They were getting only average marks but teachers also had known that they were good at their studies. Knowledge and study brought them close and they fell in love with each other.

    One day Reena said

-“Madhu! Will you go Dhanu yatra?”
-“What‘s that?”
“Local festival in Orissa.”
“No! No! You go.”I told
-“Please come. I am alone and we will go and in the night we
will be at the Hostel.”
I was not ready to go but I said “ok! But we will back within 8oclock.”
“Ok done!”
We took a bus and went to experience Dhanuyatra. A large number of people had come to watch Dhanuyatra. In one big field, a lot of shops were there. Then we shopped for ourselves. I bought so many things. It was already 5.30 in the evening. We were hungry. We arrived in a snack shop. We were just going to eat, a small girl begged in front of us. Reena gave her own plate to her. By the eating style of the girl, I could imagine that she was hungry for three to four days. Reena brought some snacks for the girl. Even she could not eat because of a little money left and it was for the bus ticket. It was too late. We returned to the hostel.
Had you lost your mind? Was that enjoyable? You gave all your money to her. ”I said.
“You know Madhu! I was very fond of Mela (festival). In my childhood, I requested my father a lot, for going to Mela (festival) but he could not take us because he had no money. Once, I and brother planned to go Baliyatra festival(Odisha state’s local festival). We took a train from my village and reached Cuttack. We enjoyed ourselves a lot on the first day but at the time of returning, we had forgotten the returning way. The next day we were hungry like that girl, we were begging for food but no one gave us. After two days luckily a man from our village recognized us and took us back home. A reflection of mine, I was watching on the face of that girl today. I am sorry. ”
She was crying for the first time.
“I am sorry Reena! I have no idea. Please don’t cry. ”
I was not happy with Reena at the beginning. But after one year I felt great with her. The habits of her, which I was not liking at all became mine. I don’t know, how the small town was placed in my heart as my city Delhi. The things that were making me uncomfortable, became a necessity. I was learning a new way of living. My learning was not closed there, so important things I was learning from Rajat. Now I was not facing any problems while solving problems.
        Time passed.
In the last year’s Durga Puja Holiday. I had gone home for the vacation. After some days I came but Reena was not in the college. After one day I came to know that Rajat was also not there. Rajat’s family were not accepted their love. Both left the city. Of course, I had searched a lot but did not get them. After that Sambalpur became lifeless for me, in which place I had understood the meaning of ‘life’.
In this way, time passed and I did forget all these things. But could not forget their faces. I have never thought in my life that I will meet them in this poor condition. My two best friends could not even recognize me.
