Madhu’s Student life and friend(Part-1)
About 1300 miles away the story was started. The town you have never heard of in your life is called “Sambalpur”. On the western side of a coastal state Orissa, is an unknown place in India. The town was far away from other big-city cultures. But it was a different thing that the district had a rich history. It is said the Sambalpur is the blessing of Goddess Ma Samaleswari and the Mahanadi River.
The town had turned into a big education hub at that time. There were so many colleges and one university in various fields. From that college, one college was there named “UCE-University College of engineering” where I got a seat.
There was no problem in studying in “UCE” because a large number of students from out of state were reading in Sambalpur but I didn’t want to go there, because I was not wanting to leave my home. But I had no option in my hand, my marks were low, I could not get any seats in Delhi. So I had to go there. I was a girl of free-thinking. Because I was raised in a city like Delhi. There was no boundary for me. my father had never stopped me at any time. But I had never thought that my thought and life was going to change.
n 1994, when my father had admitted me into the college. First, my father had come alone. I think after two months, I haven’t remembered the dates, I and my father came to college. The day was very rush in the hostel. A large number of people had come to the hostel. Some were crying, some were looking sad. I was also not happy because it was the first time I was away from Home and Maa was in Delhi. I read the names, Reena Biswal and Madhu Sharma were written. Room no-A16.
When I reached to room. A girl was sitting on a bed. The smile I can’t forget in my life. The smile was one of the précises smiles I have seen in my life. The girl was wearing a simple salwar. It was Reena. A glow was there in her face, which was Natural. I was watching a life telecast of a Charming girl of our time.
“Hi! I am the father of Madhu. What is your name?”
My father said
“Hi, uncle I am Reena.” “Home?” “Cuttack “
“Cuttack! Ohh! My first posting was in Cuttack. It’s a nice place
full of historical heritage.”
-“Yes, Uncle!”
My father looked around and said, “So did you come alone?”
– “Yes, Uncle! My father and Mother are field workers. My elder Bhai dropped me at the railway station.”
My father was chatting. like, he had met an old friend from
Cuttack after so long. I looked at the window. The Sun was taking a rest at the backside of the mountains. I could see the red sun which was looked like a signal light and told myself the same sun was going down in front of my mother in Delhi. Two drops of tears had come unknowingly. I was not feeling comfortable outside of my home. The evening almost arrived. I left back to the room their discussion was still going on.
My father said-
“I am already late for my train. I have to go.”
We both went with my father for a walk. At the gate, we had
taken some tiffin.
“Please. Read well and live well. I am going. It’s already late. If
possible I will come with your mother.”
Then he picked up his small carry bag and started walking
towards a bus stop for the station. I was started crying. My eyes could not stop my tears.
“Don’t cry my friend look at me. Am I crying? ”Reena said.
I can see in her face. Her eyes were full of tears. But she was not crying. Her smile hides everything. I don’t have any idea what type of capacity was she had. We went back to our room and had our dinner and went to bed because the next day was the Orientation day of our batch.
My eyes opened at 4 ’o clock in the morning. Usually, I wake up
after 6’o clock. But Today Up to 6’o clock, I was ready. But Reena was sleeping. She woke up at about 7.30 Am. I was still sitting in bed, looking at her.
“Hi, Good Morning”
Reena told me.
“Hi, Reena! It’s late”
“Not at All. What is the orientation Time” “8 30 Am” “Wait for 15 minutes.”
Within ten minutes she was ready. I was shocked. She had no cosmetics or cream with her. And the main thing was that she did not have any Books with her. Maybe be She did not have money had books.
After two hours we were at the conference hall of UCE all guests were on the desk. One of them was giving a speech. I noticed a boy who was sitting in the last row alone. Who was writing something on his own? I thought, he was trying to solve a problem. After some time He smiled a little and I don’t know, it may be a coincidence that his smile was alike Reena’s smile. I wanted to watch that boy some more time but he left his seat before the meeting was over. After five minutes, the meeting got over. We had our lunch in the orientation and back to the Hostel.
